Robert Allen Butz, 1st Lt.

He was 25 years old at the time of his death.
 

 

Robert was born August 15, 1939 in Easton, Pennsylvania.
 

 

Robert served with A Company, 3rd Tank Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
 

 

Robert died on June 26, 1965 in Quang Nam Province, Republic of South Vietnam.
 

 

Robert's death was a result of drowning when he tried to save his tank crew. 
 

Lt. Butz was leading a armored tank column across the Song Toy Loan River in the area of the Da Nang Air Base, when his tank dropped into a large hidden hole in the river.  Robert was the Executive Officer of A Company serving under Capt. J.B. Donovan.
