Charlie Company 1/7 set up across the Song Tra Bong (River), south of Chu Lai, as a company size outpost. This was a supply of rations, water, ammo and mail. This run was made every other day, routes were varied and also alternated with helicopters.

The Marine with his arms in the air is Sgt Boswell, who was later "Killed In Action" on his second tour in 1969. Good man and a good NCO. I'm sure that the other Marines were his "Tank Crew", but I can't make out who they are.

Passing through a small village south of Chu Lai on Hi-Way 1. Picture may have been taken during Operation Black Ferrot or on one of the other operations in the Chu Lai area. The name of the village is possibly Nouc Maun.

The Marine on the left over the Gun Tube is Lt. Ray Stewart. The one sitting without a "cover" is PFC Byers. He was "Wounded In Action" while with Charlie Company 1/7 across the Song Tra Bong (River). He never returned and we never heard from him again. The Marine over his shoulder is LCpl Bromley.
