1st and 3rd Tk. Bn. After Action Report of Mar-Apr, 1967 for "Bravo" Co. 3rd Tk. Bn.

At 0100, 23 March 1967, "B Co. 3rd Tk. Bn. was OpCon to 1st Tk. Bn.. The Co. CP was at (AT 962611). In mid April Co. "B" (- 1st Plt.) returned to the 3rd Tk. Bn. and opened their CP at (YD 061545) (Camp Carroll) on April 22, 1967. The 1st Plt. remained with the 1st Tk. Bn. until mid May when it to moved north and right into Operation Hickory (19-26 May, 1967).
During it's time with 1st Tk. Bn. accounted for;

Chorological reports.

(1) 1 Mar 67, 1630H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 913509) hit an AT mine causing moderate damage to the suspension system.

(2) At 2245H, A Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 984615) received automatic weapons fire from a house at (AT 984615). Tanks returned fire with 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(3) 2 Mar 67, 1400H: 1st Plt., Co. "B" tanks while escorting a convoy from Phu-loc to An-Hoa at (AT 918508) received sniper fire from (AT 920508). Tanks returned fire with 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(4) At 1400H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 913508) received sniper fire from a house at (AT 920508). Tanks returned fire with 90mm rounds resulting in 3 VC KIA (confirmed).

(5) At 2030H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 969605) fired .50 Cal. rounds at possible enemy positions at (AT 971607) at the request of infantry who had received 2 grenades and SA fire. Results unknown.

(6) 3 Mar 67, 1830H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 919513) observed 3 VC with weapons in the open at (AT 936515). Tanks fired 90mm rounds resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed) and 1 VC KIA (probable).

(7) 7 Mar 67, 0610H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 928556) observed 3 VC running into a tree line at (AT 924557). The tank fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(8) At 1000H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 2/5 at (AT 952483) observed 2 VC entering a cave at (AT 967483). The tanks fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(9) 8 Mar 67, 1050H: Co. "B" tanks in support of 1/26 at (AT 967584) observed VC in an open field at (AT 968580). The tanks fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(10) At 1145H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 1/26 at (AT 979623) observed a VC with a weapon at (AT 988613). The tanks fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(11) At 1515H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 2/5 at (AT 954483) observed VC moving from west to east on an open road at (AT 978517). The tanks fired 90mm rounds resulting in 3 VC KIA (confirmed).

(12) At 1400H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 2/4 at (AT 839567) conducted recon by fire with 90mm, .30 and .50 Cal. mg. into (AT 822577) with unknown results.

(13) At 1830H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 2/5 at (AT 953484) fired an infantry directed mission to (AT 984493) resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed).

(14) 9 Mar 67, 0755H: Co. "B" tanks in support of 1/26 at (AT 969597) received SA fire from (AT 972595). Tank returned fire with .30 Cal. mg with unknown results.

(15) At 1105H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 2/5 at (AT 976497) observed 5 VC with packs and weapons at (BT 005505) moving west to east. Tanks fired 90mm rounds resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed) and 1 VC KIA (probable).

(16) At 1310H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 902545) hit an AT mine causing moderate damage to the suspension system.

(17) At 1550H, Co. "B" tanks in support of 1/26 at (AT 905545) fired 90mm rounds at three enemy structures resulting in two structures destroyed. No target Grids given.

(18) 11 Mar 67, 0950H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 838568) fired 90mm and .30 Cal. mg fire in support of infantry who had received automatic weapons fire from (AT 825576) with unknown results.

(19) At 1120H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 981623) observed a VC at (AT 988618). The tank fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(20) 12 Mar 67, 0735H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 963597) fired 90mm and .30 Cal. mg fire at enemy positions at (AT 972593) with unknown results.

(21) 13 Mar 67, 1700H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 839568) spotted a column of VC with packs in the open at (AT 832545). The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 4 VC KIA (confirmed).

(22) 14 Mar 67, 1730H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 833549) observed 3 VC crossing a river in a boat at (AT 877573. The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 2 VC KIA (confirmed).

(23) 15 Mar 67, 1410H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 839567) observed 3 VC in a boat at (AT 835548). The tank fired 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(24) 16 Mar 67, 0800H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 963593) fired .30 Cal. mg fire at enemy positions at (AT 963594) with unknown results.

(25) At 1900H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 839567) observed 3 VC in a boat at (AT 831549). The tank fired 90mm rounds, the VC beached the boat and ran into a tree line.

(26) 17 Mar 67, 1545H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 945605) observed 3 VC with weapons at (AT 940605). The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 2 VC KIA (confirmed).

(27) 20 Mar 67, 1815H: Co. "B" tanks in support of Co. "F" 2/5 at (AT 857479) received 200 rounds of automatic weapons fire from (AT 845476). The tanks returned fire with 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(28) At 1950H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 2/4 at (AT 839567) observed 1 VC crossing a river in a boat at (AT 830548). The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 1 boat destroyed and 1 VC KIA (confirmed).

(29) 23 Mar 67, 1730H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 871501) observed 5 VC running through an open field at (AT 851509). The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 5 VC KIA (confirmed).

(30) 24 Mar 67, 1100H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 870500) the tank fired 90mm rounds at snipers at (AT 867502). Resulting in 2 VC KIA (confirmed).

(31) at 1130H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 870500) fired 90mm rounds at enemy positions at (AT 869505) with unknown results.

(32) 25 Mar 67, 1300H: A Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 925527) fired 90mm rounds in support of infantry engaged with approximately 50 VC. Resulting in 7 VC KIA (confirmed) and 8 VC KIA (probable).

(33) At 1745H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 2/5 at (AT 873505) observed a sniper with a rifle in a tree line at (AT 873518). The tank fired 90mm rounds resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed).

(34) 29 Mar 67, 1845H: A Co. "B" tank at (AT 963609) received approximately 60 rounds SA fire from snipers at (AT 964596 and (AT 953602). The tank returned fire with 90mm rounds with unknown results.

(35) 30 Mar 67, 1600H: A Co. "B" tank at (AT 984583) hit an AT mine resulting in 1 USMC WIA (non med-evac).

(36) At 0815H, a Co. "B" tank in support of 1/26 at (AT 968596) fired 90mm rounds at (AT 970590) resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed).

(37) 31 Mar 67, 1600H: Tanks from 1st Plt. Co. "B" in support of Co. "F" 2/5 at (AT 927527) fired 10 rounds 90mm at approximately 30 VC at (AT 932516). Resulting in 20 VC KIA (confirmed).

(38) 07 Apr 67, 1230H: Tanks from 1st Plt. Co. "B" in support of Co. "G" 2/5 at (AT 978500) observed 50 VC with packs and rifles at (AT 992515). The tanks fired 40 rounds 90mm HE and 4 rounds 90mm WP. Resulting in 8 VC KIA (confirmed).

(39) At 1410H, tanks from 1st Plt. Co. "B" in support of Co. "G" 2/5 at (AT 967508) observed 50 VC with weapons at (AT 964537). The tanks fired 31 rounds 90mm HE. Resulting in 21 VC KIA (confirmed).

(40) At 1850H, tanks from 1st Plt. Co. "B" at (AT 967507) observed 27 VC with weapons at (AT 969507). The tanks fired 30 rounds 90mm HE and 2 rounds 90mm WP. Resulting in 7 VC KIA (confirmed) and 4 VC captured.

(41) 08 Apr 67, 0435H: A tank from 2nd Plt. Co. "B" at (AT 963604) received SA fire and RPG rockets. One RPG-2 penetrated the left front side of the hull, resulting 1 90mm canister and 1 90mm WP round detonating in the ammo rack. Eight USMC were WIA, including 1 tank crewman who was med-evaced. Fire caused by the WP round resulted in moderate damage to the turret. The tank was able to return to Hill 55 (AT 966616) under it's own power.

(42) 09 Apr 67, 0845H: Tanks from 1st Plt. Co. "B" in support of Co. "G" 2/5 at (AT 978500) observed 30 VC with weapons at (AT 953526). The tanks fired 25 rounds 90mm HE. Resulting in 2 VC KIA (confirmed) and 12 VC WIA captured.

(43) At 1230H, a truck from Co. "B" hauling 90mm ammo, hit a mine at (AT 889570) resulting in 6 USMC WIA, (5 med-evac).

(44) 13 Apr 67, 1900H: A tank from 1st Plt. Co. "B" at (AT 927523) observed 2 VC at (AT 930509). The tanks fired 7 rounds 90mm HE. Resulting in 2 VC KIA (confirmed).

(45) 19 Apr 67, 1430H: A tank from 1st Plt. Co. "B" hit a AT mine at (AT 906496). The mine est. at 40 Lbs TNT, caused heavy damage to the tank and WIA one crewman (non-med-evac).

(46) 20 Apr 67, 1915H: A tank from 1st Plt. Co. "B" at (AT 935528) observed 5 VC in an open field at (AT 927517). The tanks fired 5 rounds 90mm HE. Resulting in 1 VC KIA (confirmed) and 3 VC KIA (probable).

(47) 29 Apr 67, 1730H: A tank from 1st Plt. Co. "B" hit a AT mine at (AT 971495). The mine est. at 20 Lbs TNT, resulted in moderate damage to the tank.
